Review of Punta Arenas’ Magdalena and Marta Islands tour, with penguins, sea lions, boat tips, timing, price, and practical advice.

“Everything was perfect. The check in process was efficient and we were on the road by 6:40 AM. They don't serve a formal meal during the tour, so try to eat before or bring some food. They do serve some coffee/tea and a snack around 9 AM. We were back at around 11:20 AM. The boats were very clean and comfortable. I was worried because I often get seasick, but I had no problems on this boat.”

Sail from Puerto Natales through Ultima Esperanza Fjord to Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, with wildlife, a forest walk, and Patagonian lunch.

“We appreciated the crew alerting us to waterfalls and wildlife as we cruised through the Sound. They pulled in close and lingered so everyone could see / photograph. The hike to the glacier was very well organized. The trek itself passes interesting flora and fauna. The lunch was filling and served in a very picturesque setting.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 73 reviews · 5 hours · from $209

Walk among Magellanic penguins on Magdalena Island, with a bilingual boat tour from Punta Arenas and chances to spot dolphins and whales.

“The island and the penguins were great but the trip was terrible. First off since it was advertised as shore excursion we assumed that we would have transportation. Nope After having their information translated by a taxi man we found out that we needed to take a taxi to the car ferry port We did get there on time but no one was there to help us. Someone else told us what to do. The car ferry cost $50 the taxi costs $10 and we paid $230 for what????? Don't waste your money.”
